CEREC crowns and bridges right in Waterloo.

A CEREC crown is a great option for people who want their natural smile back when a cracked tooth cannot be repaired with a fillling. A crown is a permanent covering that fits over an original tooth. CEREC Crowns are made out of porcelain, which gives the restored tooth a very natural appearance with no variation in color. A CEREC Crown has a flat natural appearance that blends seamlessly with the other teeth in your mouth.

The procedure for CEREC crowns at Waterloo Family Dental involves:

  • Numbing the tooth to remove the decay in or around it.
  • Resculpturing the tooth to provide an ideal fit for the crown.
  • Utilizing CEREC technology to design a custom fitting crown for the tooth during your visit.
  • Ensuring that the crown has the proper look and fit, our dentist cements it into place.

CEREC CROWN OVERVIEW

I

Single-visit crowns and bridges utilizing CEREC technology.

With our CEREC technology and 3D scanning, this procedure can usually be completed in one short, convenient visit. In the past, this process would consist of a minimum of 2-3 visits over a three to four week period. Thankfully, the Waterloo Family Dental crown process, utilizing CEREC technology, is far more convenient and much less uncomfortable. Once the procedure is completed, proper dental hygiene, including daily brushing and flossing, is required to maintain healthy, bacteria-free teeth, gums and crowns. This helps in the prevention of gum disease. Given proper care, your crowns can last a lifetime.

A bridge is a dental device that fills a space that a tooth previously occupied. A bridge may be necessary to prevent:

  • Shifting of the teeth that can lead to bite problems (occlusion) and/or jaw problems and resultant periodontal disease.
  • Bridges safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help maintain a healthy, vibrant smile.
  • A fixed bridge consists of a filler tooth that is attached to two crowns, which fit over the existing teeth and hold the bridge in place. A fixed bridge is permanently cemented in place and is not removable.

They fixed all my issues that another dentist office couldn’t. Thanks Dr Andrew and Melissa.

Find out if you are a candidate for a crown or bridge?

Knowing what to look for is not as easy as it may seem and a Waterloo Family Dental doctor will have to provide a full examination to determine if you need a crown or bridge. However, A cracked tooth will react to hot or cold foods or drink with a sharp discomfort or pain. If you are experiencing sharp pains or if pressure causes discomfort, schedule an appointment with your doctor. However, sometimes decayed and cracked teeth do not have any outright symptoms. If the cracks of your teeth get too deep they can affect the health of the tooth at it’s core. In order to maintain a healthy set of teeth, your doctor will recommend when it’s time to think about getting a dental crown. Unfortunately, age plays a big role when crowns are needed. Teeth are alive, and a lifetime of healthy oral hygiene is important to avoid the need for crowns or bridges.
